Salmon River Adventure Company rapid ranking details (water levels can shift the class of water seasonally).
Class I- Easy, flat moving water with riffles.
Class II- Novice level, straightforward rapids with wide, easy channels.
Class III- Intermediate, rapids with moderate, irregular waves and more maneuvering.
Class IV-Advanced level, powerful but predicable rapids. Requires precise boat handling.
EQUIPMENT LIMITATIONS: We generally have six paddlers and one guide per raft, but this depends on bookings, availability, and water levels. If you have six people in your group, you should be able to raft together, but this is not always guaranteed. How the trip shakes out, depends upon a couple of factors: the size of your group and the number of bookings for your time slot. The trip leader for your group will determine the raft assignments the day of your trip but will do their best to keep your group together.
Please note that all Salmon River Adventure Company equipment has manufacturer weight limitations which must be abided by for your safety. We reserve the right to refuse service or the use of a rental if these manufacturer recommendations are exceeded.
Swimming skills are important to white water running. Salmon River Adventure Company reserves the right to refuse service if water levels or the product selected require a reasonable level of water experience (swimming skill). Swimming ability and personal weight information are quested in your Liability of Risk form, Salmon River Adventure Company cannot be held responsible if incorrect information is given on forms that you complete prior to your experience.
Age Limitations:
Rafting: 4 yrs. or 6 yrs. (Depending upon the current water levels)
Whitewater kayaking: 12+ yrs.
Inflatable kayak, stand up paddle boards, or sit on top kayak: 12+ yrs.
Weight Limitations:
Our rental fleet of stand-up paddle board, inflatable kayaks and hard-shell kayaks range from 275 to 325 lbs.
While rafts can carry more weight, our PFDs need to be able to keep guest afloat through whitewater. 300 lbs per guest is a maximum, but also requires swimming ability and the ability of our guide to navigate the boat safely with the total weight of cargo on a boat. We reserve the right to refuse service if individual weights or the total of a rafting party weight is deemed unsafe due to equipment limitations.
DINNING
The Eddy, our onsite restaurant serves family style meals at 8:00AM, 12:00PM and 6:00PM daily.
Coffee and/or tea will be hot and ready by 7:00AM.
All food service and consumption are limited to our Eddy Deck area. There is no eating in other structures, tents, or around the base camp. This strict policy allows SRAC to monitor all food waste and minimize the impact of human food on wildlife. It also supports our mission to minimize small critter/insect visitors to our lodging areas.
PERSONAL FOOD: There is wildlife in the area, and we need to be diligent about keeping food in the designated areas. We have not had any issues with bears, and we plan to keep it that way. We have a very strict policy of no food/snacks in tents or other campus structures. If you arrive with food, we are happy to allow food storage in out Cafe Kitchen area. If you have some small, sealed, personal snacks that you would like to bring onto our base camp please let us know, and we will find a safe spot to store them.
Most of our retreats and whitewater courses include meals, prepared daily at our Eddy Restaurant. Meals are provided beginning with lunch the first day and ending with lunch on the last day.
ALCOHOL: Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol for personal consumption while visiting our base camp for a course or trip. We will not allow underage consumption or drunk and disorderly conduct at camp. We love a good time but reserve the right to end service to guests if misconduct interrupts and experience or threatens safety.
ALLERGIES & DIETARY REQUESTS: We try to accommodate some special dietary needs, but please let us know in advance. If you have a specific food allergy or sensitivity or if you have dietary restrictions based on a lifestyle choice or religious practice. If your food allergy is severe, we need to have a more in-depth conversation about what can and cannot be done. We cannot absolutely guarantee your safety if your food allergy is severe enough to cause anaphylaxis. You must bring an adequate amount of supply of your own Epi-pens to meet your needs. Please understand that one injection of an Epi-pen will only last 10-20 minutes and that an evacuation from the river may take hours. Please email dining@salmonwhitewater.com at least two weeks prior to your trip to let our kitchen staff know of any dietary concerns.
ACCOMMODATIONS: To have a truly unique wild experience, our sleeping accommodations include two options:
- Glamping tents offer mattress bed sleeping with all bedding provided. Each wall tent will come with a small lockable storage area, a solar light, 2 butterfly chairs, end table, rug, and broom.
- Classic canvas wall tents offer cot or platform beds with a “Paco” type sleeping pad. Please bring your own sleeping bag/pillow.

We reserve the right to require changes, removal of animal(s) from the premises or to refuse or discontinue service without refund if, at the SRAC’s sole discretion, the Service Animal is considered dangerous, unhealthy, likely to frighten, harm, or disrupt guests, has damaged property, or for failure to abide by SRAC policies.
WIFI & ELECTRONICS: Star Link service allows guests to stay connected during your time at our Base Camp. We do run on a solar grid with a generator backup, which can create interruptions and stalls in service. With wifi most providers allow for Wi-Fi calling but know that there is no actual cellular service available at Salmon River Adventure Company. If needed some cell service is available 12 miles away in North Fork, Idaho. Additionally, we do have a landline available in case of an emergency.
Guests should take care with any electronics they may choose to bring with them. There is limited ability to charge devices as there is no electricity wired to any of our tents. Power plugs are available in the Eddy Restaurant and bath house. Salmon River Adventure Company is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen devices.

RESPONSIBILITY ~ AN IMPORTANT NOTICE
Payment of your deposit represents your acceptance of the following conditions: SRAC LEGAL ENTITY NAME (dba Salmon River Adventure Company), its subsidiaries and cooperating agencies act only in the capacity of agents for the participants in all matters relating to transportation and/or all other related travel services and assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for injury, loss or damage to person or property, however, caused, in connection with any service, including, but not limited to, that resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, detention, irregularity, annoyance, delays, and expenses arising from strikes, theft, quarantine, pilferage, force majeure, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, government restrictions or regulations, civil disturbances, and discrepancies or changes in transit over which we have no control.
SRAC reserves the right, either prior to or after departure, in its good-faith discretion and in circumstances that warrant it, to change or re-price any tour, trip, or expedition. This includes the possibility of moving to a different river or river segment due to extreme water conditions, forest fires, road closures, and/or acts of God.
If we are not able to provide a substitute trip, river, or altered itinerary and have to cancel the departure completely, you will be refunded in full. Refunds are limited to the amount actually paid to SRAC.
SRAC reserved the right to cancel trips that are below the trip minimum (usually 4-5 persons). All trip members will be notified a minimum of 30 days before the trip departs and will receive a full refund.
In the event of trip cancellation, SRAC is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by trip members, such as penalties incurred through the purchase of non-refundable airline tickets, medical expenses, and passport and visa fees.
PERMITTING AGENCIES
SRAC LEGAL ENTITY NAME each doing business as Salmon River Adventure Company, is proud to be an Equal Opportunity recreation service provider under separate permits from the U.S. Forest Service. These permits allow us to provide services and access to some of America’s most astounding resources that might otherwise be inaccessible to most members of the public.
SRAC LEGAL ENTITY NAME operates under a special use permit granted by the U.S. National Forest Service on the Salmon-Challis District U.S. Forest Service.

TIERED PRICING
Our trips are budgeted for full or near-full sign-ups which enables us to offer trips at the lowest possible price. Because of numerous fixed costs, it is more expensive to operate a trip for a small group. Therefore, on some of our trips, in order to avoid having to cancel a trip, we have a “tier-pricing” system to avoid canceling a trip with a low number of sign-ups. We have found that most people also prefer this alternative to have a trip canceled. Thus, you will note on our trip prices that there is a different price tier.
Tier pricing is calculated on the number of full revenue passengers. Trip physicians, staff, or guests of SRAC (travel writers, trip leaders-in-training, office staff, etc.) are not included in the tier pricing structure. Trip costs quoted are based on foreign exchange rates current at the time of this printing. We reserve the right to raise the trip fee if there are exceptional cost increases beyond our control.
We will initially invoice you at the higher tier price, and refund the difference depending on the final group size.
Travel Protection
Although our intention is for a safe trip for all, we strongly recommend that you help protect yourself, your belongings, and your vacation through the purchase of an optional travel protection plan. For multi-day adventures, SRAC strongly recommends a travel protection plan that includes trip cancellation and interruption coverage, baggage loss protection, emergency medical and emergency medical evacuation coverage. A travel protection plan may help reimburse the cost of your pre-paid, non-refundable payments in the event you are prevented from taking your trip for a covered reason. Trip participants should realize that in the event of illness or injury on a wilderness trip, evacuation can be prolonged, difficult and expensive. Baggage and cameras are carried entirely at the owner’s risk, and we accept no responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed property. For complete details and to purchase a plan we highly recommend, visit: XXXXXXXXX.
Trip Forms
All participants are required to complete their registration forms and sign a standard liability waiver or assumption of risk before the trip, acknowledging awareness and acceptance of some risks associated with adventure travel.
Responsibility – An Important Notice
Payment of your deposit represents your acceptance of the following conditions: SRAC LEGAL ENTITY NAME, its subsidiaries and cooperating agencies act only in the capacity of agents for the participants in all matters relating to transportation and/or all other related travel services, and assume no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to person or property, however caused, in connection with any service, including, but not limited to that resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, detention, annoyance, delays and expenses arising from quarantine, strikes, theft, pilferage, force majeure, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, government restrictions or regulations, and discrepancies or changes in transit over which we have no control. Reasonable changes in itinerary may be made where deemed advisable for the comfort and well-being of the participants, including cancellation due to water fluctuation, insufficient bookings, and other factors. Prices and dates subject to change without notice.
SRAC trips occur in areas where unpredictable environmental conditions are to be expected. To avoid dangerous situations for our guests and guides, it is important that all travelers obey the rules and regulations as determined by the managing agencies and the Trip Leader and demonstrate reasonable consideration for other guests and SRAC employees. We reserve the right to remove any guest from a trip if, in our opinion, that guest’s actions or behaviors pose a threat to the safety of her/himself or others, or if those actions or behaviors compromise the enjoyment of the trip for others. Should a guest be asked to leave a trip, there will be no refund for the unused portion, nor will SRAC be responsible for additional expenses incurred by the guest for accommodations, return transport, change fees, etc.
