Teen Kayaking Course
Our 7-Day Teen Kayaking Course at the Salmon River Adventure Company Base Camp is an immersive week of skill-building, adventure, and personal growth on one of the most iconic rivers in the West. Designed for teens of all experience levels, from total beginners to more advanced paddlers looking to refine their technique, this course blends expert whitewater instruction with the fun, freedom, and connection that come from spending a full week outdoors.
Instruction is led by professional guides who specialize in working with teens and understand how to balance challenge, encouragement, and safety. Each day on the river offers new opportunities for growth—whether it’s a first successful wet exit, mastering a roll, running a new rapid, or dialing in more advanced technique—while emphasizing teamwork, communication, and river awareness.
By the end of the week, participants leave with far more than improved kayaking skills. They gain independence, resilience, leadership, and a deep sense of accomplishment that comes from stepping outside their comfort zone in a supportive environment. This is more than a kayaking course—it’s a confidence-building, device-free river adventure that meets teens where they are and helps them grow—on the river and beyond.

I can’t say enough about this camp. We are not a kayaking family, but I have a 14 year old daughter who really wanted to learn white water kayaking. In one week she went from being a beginner, to becoming a confident, adventurous young kayaker who could take on some class IV rapids. The coaches are all experts with years of experience. She also said she enjoyed the good food and fun games every night. These folks are awesome. Son attended the last camp in June 2023. He’s got his combat and hand roll down and now isn’t afraid to throw himself into huge holes and surf. Top end boats too from Dagger, Jackson, and Pyranha. Don’t miss the family float on pickup day!

My kids had an absolute blast and an adventure they will never forget. This place is a treasure, a true Wild West experience, and a dream in the making… A lifetime of adventure surrounds this place. Hot springs, adventurous mountain bike rides, kayaking, backpacking, you name it. I can’t say enough. We are full of gratitude for the bold dreams and hard work of the Hilleke family, the heartfelt dedication from the staff, and also the heroic efforts of the firefighters to spare this place as the Moose fire burned through.

We were lucky enough to send our 2 kids down the Main Salmon with Salmon River Adventure Company and they couldn’t be more stoked! Easy communication pre trip, super accommodating for our needs and we could not be happier. On the water the kids had an incredible time and LOVED the food.

The progression blew my mind and she loved the whole experience
My 13 year old daughter went to camp with a so/so roll and not a lot of confidence. Came back with a bombproof roll, both sides, back deck and even hand rolling. The progression blew my mind and she loved the whole experience. I took her and her friend on our local class 4 yesterday and they were both dropping into the biggest features and having a blast.
