Experience the ultimate whitewater progression—from foundational skills at Base Camp to an unforgettable 80-mile expedition down the legendary Main Salmon River, the River of No Return.
Days 1-7: Base Camp Skill-Building
Start your journey at the Salmon River Adventure Company Base Camp with immersive whitewater instruction tailored to all experience levels. Learn kayaking fundamentals—paddle strokes, river reading, edging, rolling, and safety skills—while more advanced paddlers refine their technique and boat control. Professional guides who specialize in working with teens thoughtfully group participants by ability, ensuring everyone is appropriately challenged and supported.
With limited device access, teens unplug from digital distractions and reconnect with themselves, each other, and nature. Evenings bring rock climbing, volleyball, frisbee golf, pool practice, video review sessions, campfires, and shared meals, building strong friendships and community.
Days 8-13: Main Salmon River Expedition
Put your skills to the test on a raft-supported kayaking expedition covering 80 miles of wild, scenic river. Navigate thrilling rapids, scout challenging water, and build confidence as you progress under the guidance of experienced instructors. Sleep under the stars on pristine white sand beaches, visit natural hot springs, explore side channels, and live in harmony with the wilderness.
The Complete Experience
This 13-day adventure is more than kayaking—it’s a confidence-building, device-free journey that develops independence, resilience, leadership, and lasting friendships. Teens leave with strengthened skills, profound accomplishment, and memories that last a lifetime.

My 13 year old daughter went to camp with a so/so roll and not a lot of confidence. Came back with a bombproof roll, both sides, back deck and even hand rolling. The progression blew my mind and she loved the whole experience. I took her and her friend on our local class 4 yesterday and they were both dropping into the biggest features and having a blast. My kids had an absolute blast and an adventure they will never forget. This place is a treasure, a true Wild West experience, and a dream in the making… A lifetime of adventure surrounds this place. Hot springs, adventurous mountain bike rides, kayaking, backpacking, you name it. I can’t say enough. We are full of gratitude for the bold dreams and hard work of the Hilleke family, the heartfelt dedication from the staff, and also the heroic efforts of the firefighters to spare this place as the Moose fire burned through.
